APESTC Greening — Civil War Garden
Sorry for this late notice, but the fickle weather prognosis has changed from rain all day to beginning around 11:30 am. We will have our greening at the Civil War Garden from 9-11am.
Volunteers gather on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, from 9:00am until 11:00am. We announce which garden we’ll be working on the day before each gathering, so check this page to see where we will be meeting.

Though tomorrow's weather calls for rain later in the day, the morning will be cloudy, dry and will allow us to work at: 1. Owen's Garden on 5th Ave and Emory and, 2. The 4 Rose gardens in Library Square Park on the east end.
Mother Nature is sending us a perfect pruning day beginning at the Butterfly Garden on 5th Ave on Sunset Lake where last season's dry flower remains and Montauk Daisy shrubs await a trimming. Volunteers will meet from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
We'll start our Saturday greening at the AP Rose Garden on Lake Avenue, and then continue east to the other gardens along the lake.
Wednesday's Greening (3/20/24) from 9-11 AM will begin at the 7th and Main Ave Circular Garden and then move onto Trolley Triangle on Emory and 8th Ave.
Wednesday's ESTC Greening (3/27/24 from 9-11 AM) will begin at the east end of Sunset Lake where a recently planted birch tree has been uprooted by the wind. Afterwards volunteers will move to City Hall where hydrangeas and roses need pruning.
Saturday's ESTC Greening, from 9-11 AM will be at City Hall to complete the tasks begun Wednesday. The weather promises to be windy so dress with that in mind since the temps will feel lower than expected.
Wednesday's weather forecast as of this moment is 99% rain which portends no Greening. However, should the weather gods deem otherwise, volunteers will return to City Hall to continue the Crepe Myrtle, Roses and Hydrangea pruning. It appears the weather gods have finally exhausted their water supply and Saturday will hopefully be sunny and amenable to have the ESTC Greening at the backside of City Hall where crepe myrtles, roses and hydrangeas patiently await their springtime pruning.
Saturday's weather will be windy but Green-able so volunteers will meet at Owen's Garden (5th Ave and Emory) to plant a rhododendron and a Crab Apple tree on Sunset Lake and 5th Ave. Then we will move to Merchants Park to plant a second rhododendron.
